Recover nonstop - The file(folder) already exists

Thread needs solution

When I chose my nonstop backup set from left pane and then press Recover Files in right pane, I get message 'The file(folder) already exists'.

This renders it impossible to recover any files in nonstop backup.

Is there a solution to this?

Thanks.

Alan

Alan, I don't use nonstop backup so am not familiar with it myself.  However, what files are you attempting to restore (system files or data files?) and are you attempting to restore to the original location or somewhere else?  If you are restoring from in Windows, you cannot restore system files that are in use by Windows or any other active files to the original location.  It would be better if you restored the data to another folder on the drive and then replaced the originals with a cut/paste after that.  This will 1) allow you to determine if you can restore to another directory where files are not in use  and 2) allow you to see if when you cut/paste, there is a permission error that might be preventing the restore to the original location as well.

Bobbo,

Thanks for your reply.

They are data files - pdf, doc, xlsx.

I can't get any further than error above when I press recover files.  Hence your suggestions above can't even be tried.

Alan, as a recovery issue, you should have free technical support (even if out of your 30 day support period). I would open a support case for this and have the techs take a look first.
