Restore problem with bootable flashdrive

Thread needs solution

I created a bootable USB (and also a bootable CD) from TrueImage 2016.   Both were working well for restore process on our two, existing Windows 10 desktops.

A week ago, I received a Dell XPS 8900 (Windows 10).  I have a problem with restore process with the bootable flash drive.  As shown in the attachment, whenever I hit USB (under UEFI), it prompted Dell SupportAssist.  I could not not bypass or suspend the Dell Support Assist.  So I was not able to use the bootable flashhdrive for restore but able to use the bootable CD without any problem.  Does anybody have similar experience?  If so, how did you handle this problme?

Jorge,

Most likely, you will need to disable 'secure boot' in the bios if it is turned on.  Additionally, you want to be sure that your bootable Acronis media is booting in UEFI mode and not Legacy mode (since it looks like the sytsem is configured for UEFI boot).  Press F12 quickly after boot to get to the onetime boot override menu and you should see Legacy and UEFI boot options - choose UEFI in this case.

Also, I'm not suer what type of drive your XPS came with - if it is a newer PCIE NVME hard drive (Samsung OEM 951 or Samsung 950 Pro type of drive), older default Acronis Linux bootable media won't find/detect those drives.  The 2016 update that came out yesterday now supports this, so be sure to create new bootable recovery media as well to provide the best compatibility for your new XPS system.

"Figured it out.

After hitting F2 during the Dell Logo , I got into the bios.  I had to disable secure boot.  Then I enabled Legacy Boot.  Saved the changes, then restarted the computer and hit F12 during the Dell Logo.  Then it show the devices you can boot from.

Not the most intuitive if you are used to the non UEFI Bios."
