Restored image will bit boot

I restored an image backup to my notebook computer which had had it's disk drive reset for repair. The restored notebook will not boot up. Using a win10 recovery usb drive I can recognize the file structure on my C: drive. I think its needs the boot sector repaired. How do I do that?

If you can boot from the Win 10 recovery USB, try going to Toubleshooting/Advanced Options and open a Command Prompt. When at the C:> prompt, use the Bootrec /fixboot to fix boot sector, and Bootrec /fixmbr to fix the Master Boot Record (assuming you are using MBR vs GPT format on your HD.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "had it's disk drive reset for repair". If that means you wiped the disk then initialized it via the Win 10 recovery USB, the boot partition may not have gotten set as active. *I* use a utility called Partitin Magic that is part of the Ultimate Boot CD 5.35 (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com) then mark the first partition as bootable by setting the boot flag on it. (In Partition Magic, right-click on the System Reserved partition and put a check in the box next to boot)

Hope this helps. BTW, Win 10 version 1511 was released by Microsoft on Nov 12. You might want to grab the latest version and do an upgrade while you're at it. >;-)
