Scheduled backups does not run

Thread needs solution

Hello,

Acronis True Image 2016 does not execute scheduled backups anymore. I run Acronis True Image 2016 on Windows 10 using VirtualBox on OS X on several machines. I have the licences for all 3 computers On one of the machines Acronis True Image 2016 does not run sheduled tasks anymore. It was working ok few weeks ago. It is still possible to take manual backups to the same network drive as is specified for the scheduled backup. It works ok on the other machines. What can be wrong? Please help. Thank you.

Mikael,

I am not sure about whether ATIH 2016 is supported to be used in a virtual machine environment running on a different OS - it isn't supported to run in the native Windows environment found in OS X where the Acronis True Image for MAC product is the recommended way to make backups.

You can try using the Acronis Scheduler Manager utility program to clear all current scheduled tasks for ATIH 2016 - download the schedmgr.exe program from the link in the KB document, then run the command task zap.

Again, I do not know if this will work in your virtual environment.

Perhaps this was working before, but not now - I'm not sure.  However, Running Acronis in Windows on Mac OS X is not supported - for the life of me, I can't find the KB article or thread, but I know I've seen it a few times before.  You would need to run Acronis on the Mac specificially and let it backup the vm files within it.  Please reach out to technical support to verify this (they should be able to answer this question directly without any charge - especially if you start chat as a potential customer looking for product information).

This was the only KB I could find right now, but not quite what you're looking for.

Acronis True Image 2016 for Windows runs just fine in VirtualBox in OS X. I don’t want to back Windows using OS X backup because the Windows disk is one big file in OS X and I don’t want to copy this big file again and again. So I’m using the Windows version which sees the disk as normal disk and backs up only changed parts.

I found what was the problem with scheduled backups on one machine. OS X on this machine was set to go into sleep mode automatically after certain idle time. So it did and VirtualBox/Windows with it. Therefore, nothing was executed in Windows during the sleep. I changed OS X setting to save power but not to go to sleep just turn off screen, disks, and network. Now it works ok. Thanks.

Mikael, thank you for the feedback on the cause of the scheduled backup issue - it always helps to know what worked for your situation and it may help someone else at another time.
