slow response from interface

Could anyone advise as to why the ATI2016 interface is so painfully slow on my PC......I am running windows 10 and ATI opens OK but when I click on options or backup it takes ages (like several minutes) before anything happens.
Once started, the backups run fine
Likewise if I try to restore, working through the menus again takes ages
Thanks

The most common reason for slow response is that of anti-virus applications scanning the processes that True Image uses. The reason for this is because True Image performs many functions as what is known as Low Level Dsik Operations. Anti-virus see this as a potential threat.
The fix is usually adding the processes and services of True Image to your anti-virus exclusion or whitelist so that those processes and services do not cause the anti-virus to start scanning them when they run.
Below is a link list of True Image 2016 Processes and Services from which you will find the file names to add to such lists. Not all of them will be necessary, in most cases just adding trueimagehomeservice.exe does the trick. trueimagetools.exe may need to be added as well however.

Thanks for the prompt replies - for some reason I am not being notified though email.....box that says "notify me when new comments are posted" IS ticked....hmmm
No, I haven't changed any of the dfefault options - at least not knowingly !
There is virtually no CPU load as indicated by task manager (maybe 2 or 3 %)
I am running Bitdefender but have tried disabling it before loading Acronis which made no difference
I run full and regular scans using Bitdefender (which runs live anyway) and also fully licensed Malwarebytes which, again runs all the time....I believe my system is clean
Once the backup starts it runs just fine - in fact it is impressively quick
For the record my system runs a 64bit i7 3.06GHz CPU, 12Gb RAM, 3 x 500Gb WD Caviar black drives in RAID 0 and a 256Gb OCZ Vector SSD - not exactly a budget build machine....

Is malware bytes scanning your entire system, to include your backup drive location and or Acronis on your C: drive? Try adding the Acronis application to your excluded list and make sure your backup location is also excluded. Others in the forum seem to have this problem as well, but there is no definitive answer. I have Acronis 2016 running on 3 different systems (an Asus t200 with very modest specs, a custom build with high end specs, and old HP netbook with low end specs) and Acronis is very responisve on all three of them. Unfortunately, third party applications, specific settings, unknown hardware/driver issues can all be culprits causing performance issues in ATIH, but there's really no way for us to know for sure on each unique system. If you were to remove the application, run the ATIH cleanup tool (see my signature), reboot and reinstall from scratch, I'd be curious to know if the slowness still persists or not. If it does though, it would still be hard to identify the exact cause. You may want to open a support case with technical support and provide them a system report to see if they can help identify any other issues if the cleanup and reinstall does not help at all.

Hi and thanks for your reply.... as already noted I have tried it with both Bitdefender and Malwarebytes disabled
The scans (when they run) are set to scan everything
I have previously contacted support whilst within the 30 day period but can no longer find an option to do so - I am only a home user who uses it maybe once or twice a month so cannot justify a paid support package

are you certain that real time protection in both of those apps are disable in your tests? Di you install TI 2016 as an administrator? Are you using that admin user account while running TI backup?

yes, yes and yes :)
I have tried 3 times today with Malwarebytes and Bitdefender running in their normal modes......twice there was zero delay, once with delay
By "delay" I mean clicking on any of the icons and / or settings had absolutely no effect at all until several minutes had passed
I did also notice that when it is delayed / not responding, ….moving over the tick or the network folder (source and backup destinations) does NOT highlight them, when it responds properly the tick and folders are highlighted as you move over them.... just thought I'd mention it

Might be worth a shot to try the proxy.zip file provided by Acronis in this post. It was intended for ATIH 2013, but the file did speed up navigation and recovery. Before you do though, I'd recommend taking a system backup with the offline bootable recovery media in case it has negative results for the newer 2016 version and or your OS. If it works though, it would be good to know and could be recmmended for others.

thank you.... but that problem appears to relate more to explorer not opening and also various desktop icons not responding whereas my problem seems specifically within Acronis itself and, as previusly noted doesn't happen every time.
At the moment I doi not want to load any previous versions or risk messing up my setup
Once the program is running it is commendably fast

No worries, just a suggestion.
What kind of hard drive is your primary OS on (SSD or spinning drive - is it a hybird drive... I have found hybrids to be abysmal for most anything else other than booting becuase of the limited flash cache space that fills up quickly and most of the physical portion of those drives only running at 5400RPM). How much free space is on your OS drive as well - once you get below 20%, performance will degrade on pretty much any kind of drive and can even be worse on SSD's that need that space to perform caching operations.

You should also have a look at what processes are running on the machine during these slowdowns. Might lead you in the right direction. Windows Task Manager is good for this.

Bobbo :
C drive : 256Gb OCZ Vector SSD
D drive : 3 x 500Gb WD Caviar black drives in RAID 0
64bit i7 3.06GHz CPU
12Gb RAM
Only Acronis exhibits this problem
All drives de-fragged / trimmed as appropriate
