Truncate backup

Thread needs solution

I have a backup where I'm getting an error on a incremental file

is there any way to make acronis think there is only one file i.e. The full

You can trick it - move or delete the incrementals after the full.  Then attempt to restore.  It will warn that it can't find the other files and ask you to locate them or ignore then.  Ignore each missing file when prompted and the database will annotate that they are deleted/no longer exist.

However, keep in mind that if you have an incremental backup, it will still do additional incrementals after that.  Most likley the next "incremental" will be an incremental, but the size of a full (possibly) because of the manual intervention of the other files.

You may want to consdier using differentials instead of incrementals.  Incrementals are nice because they use the least amount of space and only backup the changes since the last backup file.  However, each incremental relies on all of the incrementals before it so if one is corrupt, the chain is broken.  Differentials, on the other hand back up changes since the last full.  Each differential in the chain will be larger than the last, but there is only the full and the one differential needed in the chain so corruption is less likely.

I usually do one daily incremental backup for a week and a second differential  backup task that runs every other day.  I have the fulls spreadout too so that one full starts on Monday and does incremetnals through Sunday.  The other backup starts with a full on Thursday and does a differential only on Saturday and Tuesday.  This provides a large range of recovery points (just in case).
