Universal Restore on a new computer?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I do not understand the Universal Restore option to restore to a NEW computer. When you use UR and the target drive is the C: drive on the new computer, then of course this C: drive will lose all content wouldn't it? So if there are any valuable directories on it (such as drivers) then they will lost as well. That can't be the goal of restoring to a new PC, can it?

So again: is there a way to keep the new PC's hard drive C: content with UR?

Thanks, Feri

UR is targeted at the replacement of the computer motherboard rather than a complete new machine.  In general, you should be able to in most cases restore an image of a Windows install to a new computer and boot that restoration.  Once booted you can then update/install the appropriate drivers.
