Updating Backup

Thread needs solution

I have a question about ATI 2016. Made a clean install, installed programs, configurations and settings. Than, I made a backup.
Is there a way to run this Backup (OS) like a VM just to install updates of OS and programs and save it instead of restoring this Backup and updating it? Because I like to have a clean OS saved and updated and a current which is running and also backed up.

Hello Karl, you cannot do what you are asking in any easy or simple way as far as I am aware of.  The backup archives are read-only so you cannot update the contents by making changes in that way either.

Probably the easiest method of achieving what you are looking for, would be to have a spare disk drive that you create as a clone of the clean install system plus your installed programs, etc.

Run your system on the original source disk drive but when you are making any significant program changes, swap in the spare drive and apply those same changes to that clone drive too.

The alternative is to store multiple full backup images of your original source drive on an external storage device and create further new backup images to reflect the changes made.
