Validation hangs when at "less than a minute"

Thread needs solution

My backup tib files get made but the validation hangs indefinitely at its end.  Only option to stop the process and this prevents that tib file working.  (see my other thread about deleting large unwanted individual tib files)

How can I stop the Acronis programme from hanging?  Is this a bug?

Richard, the options for this particular issue are fairly limited.  The problem for validation may be directly related to the backup .tib files themselves, or the size of the backup version chain they form part of, or there could be other issues at play here including an issue with ATIH 2016 itself or a latent problem on the backup drive etc?

The first check point would be to try creating a new backup task, writing the .tib files to a new destination folder on your backup drive, then check that this new task will validate without hanging.

If this same problem shows for the new backup task, then try doing a Repair install of ATIH 2016 - this is done by downloading the latest build 6595 installer from your Acronis account and installing over the top of your current software.

If you see the same problem after doing both of the above, then please do a CHKDSK for the backup drive - use the /F parameter initially to do a quicker check and if this shows no issues, then consider doing CHKDSK /R to do a thorough check for any bad sectors that may be present.

Thanks Steve

I think it has to do with backup location.  When I connected the ext HD in advance and restarted windows it went without a hang.  I have to remember to do this every backup session otherwise I waste many hours because I only find it hanging at the end of the process.

Hopefully this is semi solved

Richard, interesting about needing to connect the external drive in advance - have you checked to confirm that it is being given the correct / same drive letter each time?  I would have thought that you must have the same drive letter if your backup itself succeeds, so perhaps there is some other activity going on related to the drive when you connect it after Windows has started up?

Yes I'm hoping its something like that.  I have allocated and fixed the drive letter to always be V:/

My replicating also hangs when at "less than a minute". I tried to start a new replica/backup (takes about a week!!!!). Doesn't work. With these complications Acronis becomes useless. This needs to be fixed.

This thread is getting confused by the inclusion of discussion of issues caused by ATI 2020 which would better raised in the ATI 2020 forum.

On the substantive issue I cannot add anything - I have successfully validated and replicated backups with ATI 2020, althoug it does tend to stop at "1 minute remaining" for many minutes before completing the backup, possibly the same with verification - cannot remember.
