VHD files created by Windows, missing catalog

I created a few system images using Windows Backup and Restore, however I have saved (to an external drive) only the "Backup [date] [time]" folders, not the Catalog and SPPMetadataCache folders or the MediaID file. When I restart from Repair Windows, the restore wizard can't see the saved images even when they are copied back to the correct original location.

From the information I have collected so far, it looks like True Image can restore saved images using only the VHD files, with no need for all the other files and folders created by Windows under WindowsImageBackup. Before I go ahead and install the trial version of True Image Home, can someone please confirm this?

If True Image only needs the VHD files, I could also delete all the XML files inside the Backup [date] [time] folder.
