Cloud storage questions.

Thread needs solution

Sorry, but cloud storage is confusing me. I tried the trial version of acronis true image 2017 and backed up the entire PC to Acronis cloud (I got Acronis for peace of mind not added headaches).

Acronis emailed me with a time limited offer to update to a subscription, which I purchased. I now see that 300.3 gb (my PC) is backed up to 50gb cloud storage .... that doesn't compute?

Do I need to buy more cloud storage? and how do you do that? everything I click takes me to options to upgrade or purchase what I already have, but nothing where I can just increase storage?

A bit more clarity in Acronis would be appreciated

Regards Pete.

Peter, welcome to these user forums.

This is a question that you will need to address to Acronis support directly as you are correct that if you have subscribed to only 50GB of Cloud storage but have already stored 300GB of data in the Cloud, then I too would be concerned about the difference here!

Click on the Support link at the top of the forum pages, then scroll down the new page shown and click on Contact Support - select Presales query in the box shown and then use the option to Chat Now further down the page.

Thanks for your reply. I have added 500gb storage, but feel conned and may seek out a relevant ombudsman. I tried a trial to backup my PC to the cloud and would not have realised I was not actually backed up until disater hit ....

When they emailed me to upgrade from trial to purchase there should have been advise that extra storage was required.

I thought $27 was OK but then to find I have had to pay an extra $20 dollars to actually benefit from the product makes me feel conned.

Peter, I can only suggest sending a Private Message to Gaidar, who is the General Manager Acronis True Image and see if he will take a look at your situation with the Cloud Storage.

Well I have purchased 500gb of storage, now what? They have sent me a code for the storage and no instructions on what to do with the Code? My acronis desktop has no way to add the Code and everything such as "options" "recover PC" and "recover files" is greyed out and my next backup is not scheduled and there is no option to add a schedule ....?

Thanks Steve, I am getting a little irrate as a simple attempt to protect my PC is turning into a nightmare.

To add cloud storage, go to Acronis www site. Log in to you account (MY ACCOUNT). You will end up with a www page that lists allm your registered produxts. At the top right hand cornder there is a button "Add Keys" - click on this and enter the product key (I usually do this with a cut and past).

Once the key is registered your available sgtorage will incease. It may take some time for this to work its way through the system. I cannot rember how long it takes.

Hi thanks, I did finally find where to register on the Acronis site (are they being purposefully allusive?) several hours ago but most of the stuff is still greyed out on my Acronis desktop app? don't know if that is connected?

PS. I spoke to a pre-sales guy on their chat function and he said that this has only been a problem since the 2017 edition and many customers are getting confused over storage, other than that he wasn't much help ...

Acronis are allowed to be greedy, but they shouldn't be confusing customers into thinking they are getting something they are not. Had I not checked I would have been sat thinking I had acronis cloud protection until I needed it and then it would be too late, terrible company policy, probably illegal practice ...

As to unexpected absence of Cloud Backup, the same can happen with a local backup unless you configure the tasks correctly.

The purchase options are not easy to understand. There is subscription v purchase; and then the addition issue of cloud backup. It took me quite a while to get things sorted out.

The purchase options are incorrect. It states  1 PC for $28 and then states "Full image, file, partition, and mobile backup to the cloud" ... It omits to state "up to 50GB"

I like I am sure many others expect the 50GB storage to be an addition to the advertised product which is advertised as a full backup. I may contact Trading standards, misleading advertising is frowned upon, at least here in the UK.
