Every backup fails

Thread needs solution

I have been using Acronis True Image products for at least 12 years with no problem.

However, Acronis 2017 finishes every backup attempt with "Last backup failed"

I have run chkdsk /r before backing up but get this same message every time

I am using the disks and partitions backup to an external hard drive

Can anyone suggest a solution?

Chris, sorry but we will need some more details in order to try to understand why you are seeing 'Last backup failed' for all your backup tasks.

Please download the Log File Viewer app (link in my signature) and look at the service log files to see if there are more clues there as to what Acronis objecting to?  Post some log files for help on reading content as needed.

I have spent a lot of time in online chat with the Acronis support desk.

The net result was to restart all the Acronis services.

I have now run and validated a new backup which seems to have suceeded, as confirmed by the log file.

However, the program remains buggy and keeps crashing when I close the backup page.

I will report back to Acronis tomorrow.

I am tempted to uninstall and reinstall.

The same program runs fine on my other PC!

Chris, if you do decide to uninstall and reinstall, then do this as a clean install by using the Acronis Cleanup Tool as an intermediate step.  Download and run this as Administrator, then restart to complete the action before reinstalling.

You will lose all your backup tasks and task history, but you can save a copy of the task configuration files (.TIS) from the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder to copy back after the clean install which will save some time.

Thanks for the advice.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, using the cleanup utility, as you recommended.

The new installation seems to be stable, so, hopefully, Acronis is back to normal.
