Regarding Facebook and Mobile Backup

Thread needs solution

I would like to backup my facebook content and mobile phone data to the Hard Drive..NOT in the Acronis Cloud...

I am very disappointed about that !! I think Acronis SHOULD NOT to RESTRICT customer backup to the Acronis Cloud ONLY!!!!

Michael, welcome to the User Forums.

Please see KB 58575: Acronis True Image 2017: backing up Facebook which documents the backup capabilities of Acronis for this social media account where this is done via the online Acronis Dashboard, hence it is a Cloud service being provided.

I would recommend using the Feedback tool in the main ATIH 2017 GUI > Help to register your wish to have a local backup option for this feature.

Hello Steve,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Actually I am very disapointed about that..Even Acronis delete data too quickly if customer no subscription... I am very ANGRY about this! Acronis should not enforce customer to buy their Cloud service in order to backup Facebook and Mobile data!

If I buy the Seagate Backup Plus drive, I can using Seagate Dashboard software to backup Facebook content for FREE!

Why I need to buy Acronis Cloud space? I will NEVER BUY Acronis product anymore!

Michael, sorry that you feel angry about this limitation with the Acronis product but this company is primarily in business to make money for their shareholders and selling subscriptions to their Cloud product is one of their income streams.

I agree with you that there should be an option to allow you to backup this type of social media information to your local computer, as there is for mobile phone backups etc.  However, I am just another user of the software like yourself, so you and I both have the option of choosing another solution to this requirement if it is important to us.

Hi Steve,

Thank you again for your reply.

Yes! I agree your opnion and of couse I know Acronis need increse income..

However I think they should not limit backup destination to the their Cloud Only..

By the way..I think Two factor authentication is very important to protect Acronis account..

I feel Acronis Cloud is not mature enough for the security..

Michael,

I am sorry to learn that you are disappointed with the Facebook backup capability.

We are working on the capabilities based on customer requests. For instance, in 2017 version we implemented mobile device backup content to the local computer over the Wi-Fi, no Cloud subscription required.

We are researching Facebook backup capability to a local computer, but I would not expect it to be available soon. There are many implementation complexities, especially given frequent API updates on the Facebook side, to provide reliable backup on a schedule.

Also, many users have specifically requested cloud-to-cloud backup capabilities, so they won't need to rely on updating a copy on the local computer.

HI Gaidar,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I am glad to hear from you about working on customer request..

Yes, I know Acronis need to using Facebook API to backup content to the Acronis Cloud.

There are some limitation from Facebook, I can fullyunderstand.

However I still hope we can backup Facebook content to the Local Drive.

Because I can access my photo and video more easily and convenient I will no need to download from the Acronis Cloud to my local drive again...(this is REALLY STUPID......)

By the way,
I think Acronis Cloud using "Single Authentication" to protect customer account is REALLY NOT ENOUGH...

Hope you can consider to increase account security for your Cloud service.

Thank you.

Michael,

Facebook support takes lots of efforts to do it right. Two-factor authentication is an important feature, however, most of our customers are already using separate passphrases for the encrypted backups - that way the data encrypted twice -  using user's key, and then Acronis' key on the backend.

Both Facebook backup to a local drive and two-factor authentication are in our plans. However, not for this year. Feedbacks from users help to increase the priority of the features. Thank you!

Gaidar

HI Gaidar

I think Two Factor Authentication is using for increase Acronis Account security.

And Arconis backup password is used for data security.

Both are different level for protection.

Regarding "Facebook" backup to the local drive.

I think the "Seagate Dashboard" software can do it more easily. I don't believe Acronis cannot...

I know you hope customer to subscribe your cloud service every year...

However I think you should not to restrict user backup to your cloud ONLY....

Because it is REALLY BAD experience for the customer...even lost your potential customers...

Thank you, Michael! I made sure R&D team is aware of your feedback. Thanks!

Hi Gaidar,

Actually I start to using Acronis since version 9.x

I think Acronis is good backup product, I hope my feedback is helpful and make Acronis is better..

Thank you!
