Restore Backup to same Computer - Windows Fails to start
Hello,
I am new to using Acronis TrueImage, I purchased a 2yr Subscription of Acronis True Image 2017. I installed in on my Laptop Asus Rog, with 16G RAM, 1TB SSD hard drive.
Windows 10 Pro latest edition.
I used TrueImage to make a Full backup of my hard drive to a USB Hard drive backup. Then I use a new Hard drive to perform a restore. I wanted to make sure that I can easily restore my System in case of a failure. So I went on to Restore the backup I just did on the same laptop using a new hard drive.
The Restore took about 45 Minutes, then I rebooted the Laptop. Windows 10 Failed to start with an error code: 0XC0000225
It had this msg:
Recovery
Error Code! 0XC0000225
\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\Memtest... not found...
I followed the on-screen prompt correctly during the restore. This should have been a very easy and painless restore. The restore was being done on the same computer as the backup.
The reason I purchased Acronis TrueImage 2017 was because of the claim that it is better than the built-in Backup image provided by Microsoft in Windows 10. I currently feel very disappointed.
Any help, would be greatly appreciated.
Samuel

Also, after the restore, did you go into the bios to check the boot order? It's not uncommon for the bios to list a different option to boot from first as the drives have changed during the restore process. Since it's looking for memtest, it sounds like it is trying to boot from another external drive or USB drive instead of the main drive. Go into the bios and make sure your restored drive is listed first.
And as Steve mentioned, when doing a restore, you should only have the newly restored disk connected to where the original is/was so that there is only one OS drive connected and that it's in the same place as the original. Otherwise, when you restore a full disk image (including Track 0 which includes the disk signature, the bios can see both drives - original and the restore - as the exact same disk and get confused.
