Validation Tool or 'Viewer' for tib files

Thread needs solution

Is there any way to create a validation tool or a viewer for tib files without the need of installing true image (completely)?

Or does anybody know how the validation process works. It cannot be only the hash of the complete file. Because when I try to validate a corrupt tib file, corruption already is reported at a very early stag of the scan.

So, I'm convinced that the scan for a possible corruption works wiht in smaller file segments where a 'segment hash' for each segment is saved in tib file. I.e. there is a list of hash values, e.g. for the first 100 MB, for the second 100 MB, etc.

And as soon as one hash turns out to be false during the validation, AVRONIS True Image reports a corrupted file.

Now, can somebody help me with this task of scanning tib files for errors without a complete program installation?

The reason is that True Image installs drivers on your system that may lead to file corruption when copying large files. This is very sad, but true.

Thanks for any efforts taken!

Stefan, I am not aware of any tools such as you are asking about.  The details of how validation works is something that only one of the Acronis Support engineers or developers could give you a definitive answer for.

The Acronis bootable Rescue Media can be used to validate .TIB files completely outside of Windows, but you would still need to boot this rescue media to do this, but it is a standalone utility program at this point with no installation needed.

I have not heard of any reports in these forums of any users suggesting that any of the ATIH device drivers may lead to file corruption when copying large files.  If you have a valid license for ATIH 2017 then I would strongly advise that you open a support ticket directly with Acronis Support if you believe that this is the case and you are able to recreate this issue.  You now get one year of support with ATIH 2017.
