Why is the tib file 700+GB, when it says 280GB of data selected in True Image?

Thread solved

My Backup file is 700+GB. That's a bit big for what I got.

Under entire PC it shows that about 280GB of data is selected.

I got a 500GB encrypted hard drive, unmounted in my PC. Is this really being backed up as well? Then I will remove it, I was just wondering because it shows the wrong size.

Would taking the disk offline (in diskmanager) prevent this?

Also, how about USB Sticks that are temporarily plugged in. Would they be backed up as well?

Welcome to these user forums.

Per the user guide "When you select Entire PC as a backup type, Acronis True Image backs up all your internal hard drives in disk mode."

How large are the internal hard drives?  If you selected sector by sector, then the .tib file will be larger.

I believe that ATI will not backup an unmounted drive.  One way to check would be to double click on the .tib file and navigate to the disk drives in the backup.

Thanks for the reply. Apparently it does. Or I'm not sure what was unmounted... No drive letter was assigned to the disk. I set the disk as offline in the diskmanager and now my backup has about 500GB less data, which is exactly the size of the unmounted hard drive.

Thanks for the feedback.
