ATI 2018 - Not excluding folders duringy full system backup

Thread needs solution

Hye everybody,

I am using Acronis Ture Image 2018 and ATI is not excluding folders as it should be. I want to exclude the Steam and Origin folders while doing a full system backup of my C partition.

I use this syntax „C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\“ and „C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\“ both without the quotes.

I tried it with this ATI 2018 versions 10640, 11530 and 12510. And also made a clean install of my Windows 10 1803 x64 Pro.

Everything in ATI 2018 works fine, besides the folder exclusion.

Is this a bug or am I doing some mistakes on my side?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kev, are you manually entering the folder path to be excluded for your backup task or are you using the ATI GUI to select the folder?  The latter is the recommended method and will avoid any errors in how the path is written.

The other point here is to ensure that you are not using Sector by Sector mode in the Advanced > Image Creation Mode settings, as this will cause all exclusions to be ignored.

Steve, thank you for your help. Much appreciated.

I tried both possibilities to enter the folder path. Both seem not to work. And I am not using the sector-by-sector method.

Kev, the other possibility here is that your backup is defaulting to sector-by-sector  mode due to any latent disk issues being encountered?

Please use the MVP Log Viewer tool (download via the Community Tools link in my signature) to check what messages are being posted in the log for this task?

Kev,

You need to add wildcards to get this to work due to the exclude working at the file level.

Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\ *.*

:)

Enchantech,

thx, that was the solution. I do not believe this. I have a second computer with the same software configuration and on that one ATI is working fine including the folder exclusion as it should be.

On this computer however I have to add the wildcards in ATI for folder exclusion to work.

Thx again to everybody for your help.
