ATIH2018 upgrade: uninstall 2017 first? Start new chain?

Thread needs solution

Am I right to think it would be optimal to uninstall ATIH2017 before installing/upgrading to ATIH2018?  (Is there some good way to get configs and settings to persist?)

Am I correct to think it would be optimal to start a new backup chain with a Full after the upgrade?

(If relevant, my licenses are 1-time "Perpetual", not subscriptions.)

Coyote, there shouldn't be any need to uninstall ATIH 2017 before upgrading to 2018 - in fact, I would recommend not doing so if possible.

The reason being that in 2018 there are new options to allow you to Backup your task configuration settings to a zip file, then to Import these back again - something that has been requested by users lots of times.

You could in effect upgrade to 2018, Backup your settings, then do a clean install of 2018 and Import your settings back if you want to go that way.

Sweet, I'm so glad I asked.  (Particularly if I correctly infer from your reply that if I don't uninstall ATIH2017 first, my task config settings might persist after the 2018 upgrade.)

Thank you very much for your reply, Steve!

Your task config settings should be preserved by doing an upgrade from 2017 to 2018 but you can save a copy of C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder contents as an extra safety measure.

Note: the Save / Import settings option does not preserve your task history / activity information so your tasks will appear as if they have not been run after importing the settings.

Success.  Everything worked exactly as Steve said they would!
