Automatically renaming of my Partition by Acronis after installing new release

Thread needs solution

Yesterday I got a message that a new version of Acronis 2018 is ready for download. After having agreed for download and installation Windows Explorer shows me that one of my partition has been renamed from former 'DATEN (M:) to 'Acronis Drive'. In addition to that the icon has been removed from a conventional disk symbol to a disk icon with a blue cloud. Furthermore the renamed partition was not listed anymore within the list of the other partition.

How can I reverse this?

I'd open a support case. Honestly, never seen that or heard of it in any of the forum threads.

Did you create an Acronis survival kit (I don't think it's offered in 2018, but maybe they added it in the last update) or did you turn on secure zone?

I have not used secure zone myself, but that seems like it could be what happened as it creates a special partition for storing Acronis backups on th same physical drive. That would be user initiated though and not a result of installing or upgrading directly.

This could be a way out suggestion. Is this drive assigned drive letter M, if so it is likely to be for Acronis Mobile Backup (backup of Android and iOS devices).

In early builds of 2018 it was created even if you did not backup mobile devices or backed them up to the Acronis Cloud.

I do not have the latest build of 2018 so cannot test to see if this bug has reappeared.

See KB 59584: Acronis True Image 2017: how to change Acronis Drive letter - which still applies to later versions as far as I am aware.
