BIOS & Boot from USB

Hi,
This is not a ATI issue but related to the restore from the bootable media.I am hoping that someone with more knowledge will be able to help.
I am usually able to enter the BIOS by pressing Delete however for some reason I am now unable to access the BIOS by pressing Delete to change boot order. I also cannot boot from USB by pressing F12. Any ideas on how to access the BIOS & boot from USB.
Many thanks
Martin

Martin, do this via the Windows 10 main Settings panel.
Open Update & Recovery, then open Recovery, then click on Advanced start-up which will allow you to choose your USB boot device via the Recovery panel on start.
I have had to do this with my son's Lenovo laptop which doesn't let you get into the BIOS or boot selection settings unless you start poking a paper clip end into a tiny hole during power on! Using the above option is a lot easier as I tested it recently on that laptop.

Thank you for your reply Steve. This is fine as long as one can boot to windows. What concerns me is if I cannot boot to windows how do I restrore my image.

Martin, if you have a Windows 10 install DVD or USB stick, you should be able to get to the same menu using that even if Windows isn't installed.
Searching on Google for your "ga-z77-d3h bios settings" gave a few suggestions including doing a CMOS reset by removing the button cell battery on the motherboard for a minute, otherwise removing the graphics card then booting with the integrated graphics adapter instead and hitting the Delete or F12 key at power on.

Thanks again Steve, I am currently using the onboard graphics. I have concerns about clearing the CMOS and loading defaults and if that if it still does not enable me to access bios I may not be able to boot to windows if the boot order is changed.
If I cannot changethe boot order by pressing F12 how will the PC know to boot from the Windows 10 USB stick?

Martin, if you disconnect the internal OS drive then the BIOS should start looking for other boot devices should you need to get a USB stick to work / get into the BIOS.
Resetting CMOS shouldn't cause a problem unless you are saying that you had to change the default boot order previously. You would need to do this at some point in time because the CR2032 batteries don't last forever - I have had to change plenty of those where the computer moaned about the configuration being lost after being powered off!

Thanks again Steve, if the os drive is disconnected how w do I restore my image to it?
The boot order has been changed in the bios hence my concern

Martin, as always there are ways around most difficulties. Potentially you could connect your main OS drive also via USB in a caddy or dock, boot from a USB stick and perform a restore from a second external USB drive.
Perhaps we are following Alice too far down the 'hole' here - your original question was about getting into the BIOS settings for which I have been trying to offer some different options. Another one would be to do a complete system shutdown and power drain. There can be issues if you are always going into a Hybrid Sleep state rather than doing a full shutdown.
Try pressing the Shift key when clicking on Shutdown to force a full shutdown then try the Delete key for accessing the BIOS.

Thanks again Steve, I appreciate your comments. Would a failing cmos battery cause this issue? I fully shutdown my computer every day.

Martin, I wouldn't have thought that a failing CMOS battery would cause this issue, you would more likely see messages when starting to boot the computer such as set date & time.
