Can I continue an existing backup after cloning a disk?

Thread needs solution

I updated my computer with a solid state drive and cloned using Clone Disk. I had a periodic backup configured for the previous drive. Now that this is a different drive, hardware wise, can I still continue to backup this new SSD to the previous configured backup files or do I need to start fresh? (Not sure if there is anything in the back up files that is tied to the old drive.)

Thanks,
Dan

Dan, welcome to these public User Forums.

You can continue your existing backup but you will get an error because the source disk drive has changed, so you need to reselect the source for your new SSD.

I did this myself recently when I upgraded by SSD from 128GB to 500GB and one of my tasks was scheduled to run before I got round to reselecting the source drive and failed with the following error (on ATI 2020).

19/02/2020 03:13:52:144 PM Operation Win 10 SSD Diff E started by schedule.
19/02/2020 03:13:53:153 PM Backup reserve copy attributes: format tib; need_reserve_backup_copy false;

Thanks Steve,

I had a feeling that might be the case. I'm glad I thought of it and decided to ask.

I'll start a new backup.
