Cant copy some folders from old Backup

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis 2018 and my last Pc crashed, but i have a recent backup. The Problem is if i mount the Backup i can't access the Users folder, and if i try to change Permissions/Ownership its denied because of writing protection that i can't change. If i try to copy my old Homefolder it can't copy the Googledrive folder and my workspaces because of missing permissions (even as admin). How can i restore my folders because not all Datas were synced.

Thanks for the Help and best regards

Janis, welcome to these public User Forums.

This is a fairly common issue and can be resolved by changing the file recovery options so that you do not preserve the permissions from the original PC owner and instead let the recovered data inherit the permissions of the user doing the recovery.

See the ATI 2018 User Guide:

File recovery options

Location: Recovery options > Advanced > File recovery options

You can select the following file recovery options:

  • Recover files with their original security settings - if the file security settings were preserved during backup (see File-level security settings for backup), you can choose whether to recover them or let the files inherit the security settings of the folder where they will be recovered to. This option is effective only when recovering files from file/folder backups.
  • Set current date and time for recovered files - you can choose whether to recover the file date and time from the backup or assign the files the current date and time. By default the file date and time from the backup will be assigned.
