Jean-Yves, sorry but more information is needed before we can help you with this issue?

Please tell us what exactly you are trying to restore, how you are doing this?

If you are doing the restore using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media, then please save a copy of the Log for the action to a USB stick or to a drive, so that the log is kept after you restart the computer.  Let us know what is shown in the log?

If you are doing the restore from within Windows using the ATI main GUI, then again, what steps are being taken, how far do you get.  In this case, please download the MVP Log Viewer tool from the Community Tools link in my signature and use this to look for any messages in the log for the task being performed?

If you are attempting to restore a Windows OS partition, it is strongly recommended to do this using the Rescue Media and not from within Windows but in this case it is important that the Rescue Media is booted in the same BIOS mode as is used by the Windows OS.  You can check what this mode is by running the msinfo32 program and looking at the BIOS mode value shown in the right-side panel of the report produced.

Hi,

I only wanted to restore some files in an archive coming from "My Documents".

The first answer of Acronis is: " Failed to add the backup to the backup list. Backup could be locked or damaged".

The backup isn't used till 2017/10. So I think he is damaged.

Jean-Yves, thank you for the further information.

I would suggest doing 2 things here:

First, in Windows Explorer, right-click on the ATI .tib image file and take the option from the Acronis menu to perform a Validation of the .tib file.  This will give an indication of whether the file is damaged or corrupt.

2018-03-29 17_30_38 Validate Explorer.png

Next, again in Windows Explorer, double-click on the .tib file and see if it will open and allow you to browse the archive contents.  If it does, you can then use normal Copy & Paste commands to move any of your Documents or other files to where you wanted to restore them to.

Hi,

Before requesting help, I tried to validate. But Acronis gave me all the error codes.

I tested the disk drive; Windows didn't found any bad cluster. MalwareBytes didn't found anything

Have you tried to double-click on the .tib file to see if it will open in Explorer?

Where is the backup file stored?  If it is on a NAS or network drive, try copying it to a USB drive and accessing it from there?

The file is stored on a second disk in the computer.

If I double-click on the tib file: "An error occurred while opening the backup archive. Cannot continue because the operation because the backup is corrupted, or it is being used by an other process..."

Sorry but it does sound as if the .tib file has become damaged or corrupted.  Do you have any other .tib files that you can check to see if they show as being OK?

One last suggestion here, can you boot from the Acronis Rescue Media and try to open this problem .tib file using the standalone Acronis application?
