Mobile device backup to LAN-connected PC

Thread needs solution

I am running True Image 2018.

All PCs in my home are connected via cables to the router, which also provides WiFi access to mobile devices.

Is it possible to back up my Android phone to my PC - phone is connected via WiFi, PC is connected via cable, to the same router. As it is, the mobile app cannot find the PC.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Vimal, welcome to these User Forums.

This should work for you but you need to use the Acronis app on your Android phone to scan the QR code that is shown on the PC that you want to backup to.

I have had this working a while back but haven't used it recently, and when trying to use it today, I scanned the QR code on my laptop from the phone but it never succeeds in signing in for me, despite both the laptop & Android phone being on the same wireless network!

Thanks, Steve.

I did scan the QR but the mobile app didn't link to the PC - I thought it was because the WiFi and the LAN networks were somehow separated by the router. Both the PC program and the mobile app say both devices must be on the same WiFi network.

Perhaps Acronis need to put some work into this feature? I don't think many NAS boxes would be linked up via WiFi either.

Vimal, I agree that some more work is needed on this feature - I could use the backup to Cloud option but then have to remember to stop it from trying to automatically backup regardless of where I happen to be, which then starts to drain the battery!
