Recover Files from network share using MVP bootable media

Thread needs solution

Need a little direction.

I have successfully created bootable media using the MVP tool on a usb thumb drive.  I have a laptop that does not have an ethernet port so I purchased a usb 3.0 Gigabit LAN interface which came with a driver CD.  I successfully found the driver files and put them in the correct folder for the bootable MVP tool builder script.  The NIC works fine and I can see the network, and I am able to successfully map a network drive to point the the shared folder on my home network where my backups are stored.  I can list the Z: directory to show the .tib files.  I am able to also browse the Z: mapped network drive using the file explorer included in the MVP WinPE environment.

I thought wow everything is great, then when I tried to view/browse for the .tib files from within Acronis 2018 that I am running from within the WinPE envitronment it just says mapped drive "disconnected", in the status field of the browse dialog and when I try to select it, I get an error dialog.  Difficult to take screen shots in this environment but I suppose I could take a photo with my phone and attach it if someone asks for it and needs it to help diagnose.

Is there a log file available from within the WinPE environment for the TrueImage 2018 that would yield some insight and worth posting?  if yes, please let me know where it is kept and I will post.  If not, what do you all suggest.

At this point my only workaround is to copy the .tib files over the network to an external USB hard drive, which defeats the purpose of having network access from within WinPE, as I could pull the file over to this hard drive before booting to WinPE and have the same ability to recover.

What I am looking for is the ability to recover directly over the network.  Any help or direction for providing additional information would be most welcome.  I did a fairly thorough search of the forum before posting this.  Very slick tool that MVP tool by the way.  With this same usb thumb drive I was able to boot a macbook air and get TrueImage 2018 to run.  I didn't have trim to try any disk operations, but I was very impressed that the WinPE based tool would boot on the macbook.  Love this tool.

Hi Doug,

No need to look any further. There is a bug in the WinPE version of True Image 2018 not allowing you to see mapped network drives from within the program. Earlier versions of True Image worked properly. Acronis is working on the problem. It may be fixed in the next release. There is no timeframe.

In the meantime, your best option is to copy the backups to an external USB drive (as you mentioned).

For your information, you can take screenshots in the MVP Tool boot environment using the included IrfanView program found in the Start menu.

Does anyone know if this issue has been remedied in the latest release of TI 2018?  Thanks in advance.

I'm happy to report the issue has been fixed in build 11530. I successfully tested with both 32 and 64 bit media.
