Rescue Media USB support
Hello,
I created a Rescue USB-Stick from ATI 2018 Build 22.3.1.9207.
In the first menu I press Key '1' to start ATI x64 - this works fine.
But after ATI is loaded, USB-Keyboard and USB-Mouse doesn't work.
No operation is possible.
Is there any solution?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Steve,
thanks for your quick response.
I used the "Acronis Rescue Media Builder" and created a bootable Linux-Based USB-Stick - the extended Version for use with different Computers.
USB-Keyboard and Mouse is wireless connect to a USB2.0 port.
It's a standard PC.
Previous Version was ATI 2016 and it worked fine.

ziya, thanks for the further information.
If this was working correctly for you in the ATI 2016 Linux based Rescue Media then I would recommend opening a Support Case direct with Acronis Support as there should not be a reduction in functionality.
With ATIH 2018, Acronis has started to move to using Windows PE (or Windows RE) as the default for the Rescue media, but with this there may be limitations on support for Wireless devices.
Please check that you have actually created the Linux Rescue Media and not defaulted to creating the Simple (Windows RE) version instead? If you have the PE/RE version then you will see files similar to the screenshot below:
If you have the Linux media, then the files look different as per below:

This latest boot-cd is a real disaster !!
Have to insert a wired mouse , when using this cd .
This boot-cd does not even recognize my external HDDs !
WHY SO BAD ?? This boot-cd is a few steps back, its no progress !!!
Previous version 2017NG works perfect , can use non-wired mouse and" sees" my external HDDs also !
I wonder if we can still use previous boot-cd ( 2017NG) with latest Acronis 2018..................??
( only for backups and restoring)
Please, Acronis fix these boot-cd problems !!

Piet, please submit Feedback on the problems you are seeing with the Boot CD and also open a Support Case directly with Acronis for this.
You can still use your 2017NG boot CD with 2018.

To echo Steve's notes above - please try the WinPE rescue media creation. WinPE uses the default drivers of the ADK that matches your OS installation (the same drivers that the default OS uses when you install the OS from scratch). Really not sure what changed with the Linux media (I suspect a newer version of Busybox which may have dropped support for those devices). I'm using a logitech unifying device wireless dongle and the WinPE rescue media is working fine with it in 2018.
Submitting a support case directly with Acronis should help identify any issues with the rescue media, which would lead to a subsequent update.

Will use my previous boot-cd ( from version 2017NG) , which works fine , untill these troubles are eliminated .
I still dont understand why Acronis can sell this " boot-cd" to the people , no wireless mouse , no recognized external HDDs anymore ...........???
Lots of people, and me included, are very , and deeply dissapointed in this " update" , its a big step back , dont look at the price and the work of installing it ................
Please , Acronis will you test your software-updates more severe in future.............!!

There was a lot of beta testing before release - I remember 1 other person mentioning usb issues with the default boot media, but that was it. I don't think this is very common issue with the rescue media - at least not at this time.
Again, did you try the winpe resuce media option at all - which method did you use to build your rescue media? There are 3 options, Linux, WinPE and WinRE builds - all done automatically by Acronis - try one of the others and see if it works better than the one you tried first.
The rescue media is free to download in .iso format from your account (Linux version) which can be burned to CD or DVD. It's also free to build your own .iso and/or burn directly to disc or USB as well. They are selling pre-made copies which require media, buildling and shipping so that's where the cost comes in, but there's not much need to purchase it when you can do it yourself with the application.
As Linux distros update (busybox), Acronis will move to newer versions of it for better compatibilty of newer hardware. If Linux drivers fall out of the base distros, then try the WinPE or WinRE rescue media build instead.

I tried a combined Rescue Media (USB-Stick) containing ATI2018 and ADD12 using the 'Bootable Rescue Media Builder' from ADD12. There is no option for Linux or WinPE/RE.
After booting from the USB-Stick an GUI menu appears to choose the disired app (ATI2018 or ADD12 both 32 or 64bit).
The GUI works fine with wireless Keyboard and Mouse (logitech unifying devices).
Also ADD12 works fine but ATI2018 sucks - no Mouse no Keyboard.

USB support seems to work only on some computers configurations: on my desktop PC it doesn't work (USB 2.0, logitech wireless usb mouse and keyboard), on my notebook it partially works (integrated touckpad and keyboard are ok, external usb HDD are ok, logitech wireless usb mouse is KO but in the first screen instead it works fine). It's a mess!

Those having issue with USB should open support tickets with Acronis to help in resolving such issues.

I use the Logitech Unifying Receiver on a back panel USB port for KB and mouse. I have had no problem with the WinRE rescue media in the final 2018 release. During beta I tested that with Win RE and Linux media and no problems there either.

DD12 is the issue here. It's 3 years old and doesn't support the new version of ATIH 2017 with the newer version of busybox to the full extent. Try building just a 2018 rescue media as a test. You can try all 3 options.
the MVP rescue media builder will allow you to build WinPE rescue media wth both products. A new version wil be out soon that supports 2018.

Using DD12 to build each time or 2018?
please full format the USB drive and just build 2018 rescue media as a test. Start with winpe or winre. I'd recommend winre first.

You are right :-) ... wow
After formatting the USB-Stick it works.
Using ATI2018 'Bootable Rescue Media Builder', Method simple -> WinRE is written.
It works with PC both Legacy and UEFI Mode and it works with the Notebook.
It's a little confusing. I thought the Media Builder would delete all data on the target.

@ Bobbo_3C0X1
OK... I tried all 3 options each time...
- formatting the USB-Stick
- using the ATI2018 Media Builder (not ADD12 Media Builder)
Media ist created with my PC (ATI2018 and ADD12 installed)
1. Using simple Method -> WinRE -> ATI2018 Rescue Media works on each system (PC and Notebook)
2. Using extended Method -> WinPE -> ATI2018 Rescue Media works on each system
3. Using extended Method -> Linux -> After that, ATI2018 and ADD12 is on the Stick.
ATI2018 (brand new) works on Notebook but not on PC (no wireless Keyboard/Mouse).
ADD12 (3 years old) works on each system also with wireless Keyboad/Mouse

After reading all these posts in this forum , its very clear the media-builder of this latest release 2018-version does not function as it should be ( compared with the 2017-versions).
This must be very clear to the Acronis-team as well !
So, we may expect an updated version , related to these boot-cd problems, very soon ..........!!

Piet, did you either open a support case or submit Feedback directly to Acronis about this issue as that will get their attention more easily than these forums. You can reference this forum topic in your feedback or support case.

Follow Stevens advice and open a support case. Two of 3 methods work ( the recommended ones) but the Linux one is not because if the addition of DD12. How does the Linux media work if you leave DD12 off?

Not sure if this is relevant, there was a new build of DD12 released on15 July 2017 (12.0.3297). This build should (hopefully) be compatible with ATI 2018.
