Restore C:\ Onto Larger Hard Drive

Thread needs solution

Win 7 pro. From a small C:\ drive I restored my disk onto a 1 TB disk. When rebooting, computer reported new disk same small size as original. I used a 3rd party partition tool to extend partition to max allowable size. Now when I open "computer" in Windows, it shows 929 GB total size but has a red warning only 8 GB free. But all my C:\ folders including hidden folders only add up to around 100 GB. Is there a setting, command or parameter I can set somehow to make all parts of Windows see the full 929 GB and display the true amount of free space?

Could you take some screen shots of what your 3rd party tool currently shows for that drive?

If things are still normal, you should be able to do this in Windows as well, but would be nice to see what it shows as well to be sure.

In Control Panel >>> Administrative tools, right click "computer management" and select "run as administrator".

Expand storage >>> disk management

Locate the drive as Disk # (# will have it's own number in the bottom half).  What does it show?  If there is unallocated space, you should be able to click on the main partition (like C:) and then select "extend" and extend it to the full amount capable.
