TI 2018 restore: index corrupted / cannot restore & all backups corrupted?

Thread needs solution

I see many posts asking for help but no real solutions.

My drive got corrupted & when I tried to restore I've found that every daily backup for over 2 months gets the same error when first starting restore: index corrupted. If I try to continue, it tries to restore, eventually keeps failing on many files, when I cancel it ends with restore successful.

1. How do I restore my PC? Or have I lost everything?

As noted in some threads, I mount the tib file, run scandisk, get many errors. Write mount has been removed, so can't use chkdsk /f. I tried an old copy of TI 2014 (to get mount with write), but the password mechanism has changed so I can't unlock any backups.

2. What is causing this?

There's no indication these backups were worthless. Nothing. The backup logs every day show perfect success. Validate always worked. Maybe for over a year now I've actually had all corrupt backups.

3. What's happened to True Image that it can make corrupt backups with no warning at all?

Trying 2019, at least I got "index corrupted" right away. I'd been using 2018, and it just tried to restore & failed, thought it looked like it restored but no files. I have to look at the restore log to at least discover why I kept restoring but got no good bootable drive.

Erol, please can you clarify exactly which drive got corrupted in this scenario?  Is this the drive that is holding your backup .tib files that you are wanting to restore from, or is it a different drive?

When you say the drive got corrupted, how exactly is it corrupted, and do you have any idea of what caused this corruption?

How are you attempting the restore actions here?  Are you booting from the Acronis Rescue Media or are you attempting this from the Windows ATI application?
