TI 2018 Restoring data backups from TI 2011
Will TI 2018 restore data backups made with TI 2011?

If ATI 2018 does not work, I would suggest trying the TI 2011 recovery media to do the recovery. The only problem I can see is that that recovery media may not support your current hardware (necessary device drivers missing). The KB article Steve mentions indicates you can use ATI 2014 or ATI 2015 recovery media to recover your data provided you have a licence for either of those versions. If you do you can download the latest build of the ATI recovery media by logging into your Acronis Account. (I have an archive in which I store the iso of the most recent recovery media for each version of ATI for which I have a licence.)

Why is the TI 2018 file size so large at 500MB?
It's double the size of my current version.
Some of us peasants don't have fast internet with big data allowances...

Ant,
I expect that Acronis have added a lot of capability since TI 2011. The download size of ATI 2016, 2017 and 2018 are all approx 500MB.

One reason is the different versions of the Linux kernel used by the Rescue Media across the years & versions of ATI, another is the ability for the media to boot either Legacy or UEFI systems.
See KB 1537: Acronis Bootable Media for kernel information, and KB 5684: EFI-based operating systems support in Acronis products for EFI support (first introduced in ATI 2012).

Some modules were previously in separate downloads are now in the installer: for example migrate to new hardware module was a separate module and I think an optional purchase. Then there is new features such as Active Protection.

Thanks
I would like to download the 2018 TRIAL version, the full exe file....NOT the web installer.
Is this possible?
I can't seem to find any way to download this other than the web installer

Ant, it looks like Acronis are defaulting to supplying just the web installer from the trial download link, so you would need to contact them as a PreSales question and ask if you can have a copy of the full installer (to install say on an offline machine?).

Ok thanks Steve
Is it possible to download the full version for offline installation?
Or is this only possible if I pay first for the upgrade?

Ant, it should still be possible but I suspect that you would need to register the trial serial number to your Acronis account in order to get the download to show in the list of downloads.

Hmm..
Cheers for your advice and assistance, Steve.
Ok, sounds like I'll have to download the trial version using the "web installer" process first.
Gee, they don't make things simple and easy for us...unless.. we follow Acronis protocols
