Upgrade to 2018

I just bought the upgrade to 2018 - 5 machines
NONE of the machins will activate! I've tried both update an fresh install after uninstalling.
I've also tried the "Offline Activation". Yes,it works, but after some minutes it goes back to "Activation required: Days remaining 30"
This also happened on my previous upgrade from 2016-2017. I was then in contact with support, and I had to give him access to my computer. It fixed it in some way, but I was never told what the problem was.
The activation routines shoud be much better! This is a company to be trusted, so WHY is activating such a big problem for me?
A lot of the documentation is also not correct.

Have the same problem with my upgraded from 2016 to 2018 on all three PCs.
Online and Off line activation fail to work, they all just goes back to 30 days each time, no errors. This is the same on all three PC’s.
So have removed 2018 on one PC and used the acronis cleaning tool and then done a clean installed of 2018 the latest build and have same issue. Disable windows firewall, same issue. Removed that PC to new internet connection same issue.
Now have an open ticket with support after 10 days they told me twice how to add my 2018 serial and 2016 serial to confirm the upgrade I get the two green ticks that these are good. Press activate window closes, activation goes back to 30 remaining soon after. Painful so far, as activation should not be this hard. I have been using it Acronis TureImage since 2008 and have lost faith, in Acronis.

Moss, sorry to hear that you too have this problem, I hope that you get an answer soon for your Support Case with Acronis.
If you are unsatisfied with the progress of the Support Case, then send a PM to Gaidar, General Manager Acronis True Image.

Good work guys at Acronis Support.

Moss, do you know what was done to fix this or was this an issue with their activation / license servers?

Hi Steve,
It was issue my end, with connecting to the Acronis servers. Not sure why the off line activation didn't work. However they remoted to one PC client, found the issue which I was able to correct on the other two PC's at the same time.

Hi Moss, thanks for confirming the issue was at your end, but can you give a little more detail as to what that issue was? I know that there can be issues with proxy servers and activation, but was this something else?

I just upgraded from 2018 beta to 2018 today. I cloned my C: drive twice to a USB drive with an old 1T Sata hard drive. I could read the drive (2015 clone backup) before I started. I could not see the hard drive on the USB after the new clone. I cloned it a second time and still not see the hard drive. Acronis 2018 both times said the clone was successful..
I tried to boot from the cloned hard drive to see if it would work. I could boot to the log in screen. Once logged in all I got was two black screens. I tried a few things and then I tried Control Alt Delete and got to task manager. I could see the task manager. I played around there and found I could get to the Run text box from Task Manager. Then I tried to run Word.exe and that failed. I tried Excel.exe and that opened. I tried msconfig and locked up task manager. I opened another task manager and closed the task manager that was locked up. I tried firefox.exe and that opened. That is how I am at this forum.
I will go back to my old C drive and see if I can run the computer. I have other cloned C drives. I clone often In these days of ransomware. I need to be able to clone my hard drives often. Acronis is usually great for this. 2018 Beta worked well. The new true image 2018 (paid for a number of seats) has a problem I sent in a ticket for help earlier today. I have not heard anything yet. Maybe I will have to reinstall and earlier version Acronis True Image. I will wait for support to get to me. After reading this forum a little, I think I made a mistake of upgrading before it was fully debugged.
System: Windows 7 Pro, Desktop, I7, 16 gig Ram....dual monitors, two video cards .

See my comments above about about Clone problem and black screen using a new install of Acronis True Image 2018.
I shut down the computer and rebooted, logged in, still black screen, went to task manager and started browser, started to write my observations. All of a sudden my desktop files and screen saver came to life. Then in the middle of my typing in this forum the computer shut down and restarted. Logged in and the desktop was there as it is now. I guess Windows reset what ever it had to do to recover my computer. Beyond my pay grade. I will investigate more later.
I wanted to say that about 3 or 4 weeks ago after I loaded Acronis True Image 2018 Beta. I think I was attacked with ransom ware shortly after. Acronis message popped up a message that files were being encrypted and did I want to continue. I responded no and Acronis recovered the 100 plus files that were encrypted. Acronis told me the program that was doing it. This happened three times in a row as my computer booted up. Acronis told me the program doing the encryption was a Jave.exe file on the C drive in an Intel directory. I assume Intel was not doing this encryption for a reason. I located the file and change the extension so that it could not be run. I ran a series of anti virus programs and maleware programs. Nothing was found. It appears that Acronis 2018 Beta saved my computer from being encrypted. Thank you Acronis. Again this is beyond my knowledge base.
My computer seems to be working well right now. I think I will still go back to my C drive I used to clone this current cloned drive. I think that the Clone operation in the new Acronis 2018 still has a problem at least on my computer. . .

Allan, welcome to these User Forums, and thank you for sharing your experience with ATI 2018 with us here.
I have not used cloning for some time, my preference is to use Backup and Recovery in place of using cloning. This is not a criticism of cloning per say, just that cloning requires a second dedicated disk drive for the target, whereas Backup can store multiple different backup images on a single drive, including those from other computers.
I full understand and agree with the need to protect against ransomware - I have been fortunate to have never fallen prey to such malware though have needed to recover computers for friends / family who have been hit with viruses / malware but not the encrypting type!
