What exactly is the "Simple" recovery disk

Thread needs solution

The options for recovery disks seem to have changed while I wasn't paying attention, and I'm confused. I think understand the Linux option and the Windows PE/RE options in the advanced section, but what is on a "simple" disk? Is it Win RE, or something even more stripped down?

It is described in section of the "11.1.1.1 Creating bootable media" user guide.

"Simple—This is the easiest option. Acronis True Image will choose the optimal media type for your computer. If you use Windows 7 or a later version, WinRE-based media will be created. For users of Windows XP, Acronis True Image checks if WAIK or WADK is installed on your computer, and if so, then WinPE-based media will be created. Otherwise, Acronis Media Builder will create a Linux-based media."

Hope this helps

Thanks.

Neither the help document that installs with the program, nor the online web-based documentation, have that section. They also don't have section numbers.

The PDF version has both. I don't know if it is newer or just different.

The PDF document is different, more complete.

Hello Everyone,

to address the most frequent questions on new methods of bootable media creation we've published the article 60820: Acronis True Image 2018: how to create bootable media. It contains step-by-step screenshots and description of both methods.
