1)Forgotten Recovery Password - 2)What is VMDK file

Thread needs solution

Hi All - ATI 2019 installed on C drive.  PC problems and all TIB folders seem to have disappeared.

1) TI 2019.  Unable to run recovery because of forgotten password.  Is there a workaround for this?

2) I have a long list of disk - s*****.vmdk folders/files on external drive. Are these copies of backups? Is there an easy way that these can be accessed/examined?

Any advice appreciated.

Many thanks

Bob, sorry but forgotten passwords are something we cannot help with as these are not recoverable in any direct way that I am aware of.

You .vmdk files are created by VMware and are virtual disk files for that application, so nothing to do with Acronis backups.

To access the .vmdk files you would need to install the VMware Player application and point it to open the associated .vmx file which contains the virtual machine configuration information that uses the virtual disk files.

The image above shows one of my own VMware virtual machine folder contents used for testing the ATI 2020 Linux rescue media without having to reboot the computer from it.

Hi Steve -Thank you for your response. A pity about the password.  I was offered the opportunity by Microsoft to convert the files but need the password.....lesson learnt!

I will follow your VM link and see how I get on with it.

Thanks again.

Kind Regards - Bob
