Acronis Universal Restore doesn't find a driver

Thread needs solution

Hello !

Acronis Universal Restore doesn't find this driver for W10 and for a Dell Inspiron :

PCI | VEN_8086&DEV_9D2F&SUBSYS_08111028&REV_21

What is this driver and where can I find it ?

Thanks

Vincent, welcome to these User Forums.

The drive looks to be related to a USB 3.0 controller, so if this is an integrated device for your Dell Inspiron, you would probably need the Chipset drivers for that model, or else check the Dell Support site to see if they provide downloads for the drivers.

If the USB 3.0 controller is a plugable device, i.e. on a PCIe card or similar, then try removing it if it is not being used.

Vincent,

Steve is correct.  The driver is for the USB host controller which is part of the motherboard chipset.

Dell offers driver packages for its Pc's that include all drivers necessary for reinstall.  You should go to the support site, download the package for your PC, follow the instructions to prepare them for installation.  Place them all on a flash drive and attach it to the PC.

Run universal restore again and when it asks for a driver point it to the flash drive.

I downloaded all the drivers for the chip but I can not find the missing driver. Maybe I'm not clever enough. I  give you the serial number of my inspiron HBFYCQ2 if someone can help me and find this driver:

PCI | VEN_8086&DEV_9D2F&SUBSYS_08111028&REV_21

Thanks

Vincent, the Intel Chipset driver package can be found at webpage:

Intel Chipset Device Software Driver

The above page includes the following 'Important Information'

Note: The chipset software does not install drivers for AGP or USB or resolve issues with these ports.

See webpage:  Intel Serial IO Driver

This is also a chipset driver package but doesn't mention USB specifically but USB = Universal Serial Bus so is worth considering.

Both of the above were found at the Dell Support webpage for your service tag.

Perhaps the more relevant question to ask here, is:  What exactly are you trying to do that involves using Acronis Universal Restore?

Also, which version of Windows OS is involved here?  If you are migrating a Windows 10 OS from one computer to this new Dell Inspiron 5770 system, then AUR may not be needed and you should try booting into Windows without using it.

I want to install on my Dell a system backup of my asus which is also under windows 10

Ok, thanks for sharing about the purpose here.

Next question:  Are both systems using the same edition of Windows 10, i.e. both Home or Pro, both 64-bit, both using UEFI etc?

Vincent, please run the msinfo32 command on both computers and verify that the BIOS mode shown is the same for both too.

Bios mode in my ASUS is UEFI

My Dell dosen't start how to know ??? I can enter in the Dell bios and after...

Thanks

Ok, then the next check is that the Dell BIOS supports UEFI as that is needed for your ASUS backup to work?

When you say that the Dell doesn't start, did it have Windows 10 previously that was working?

Vincent, are you saying that Universal Restore caused Windows 10 to stop working on the Dell?

maybe since it asks for a driver that I do not have ...

But before to use universal restore windows 10 doesn't start

I used acronis true image and universal restore to put Asus system backup

now when I start windows 10 is trying to repair itself

But before to use universal restore windows 10 doesn't start

If you have already used ATI to restore your backup from the ASUS computer to the Dell disk drive, then AUR would only have tried to prepare that restored Windows 10 OS - the original Dell Windows 10 OS would have been wiped out as the disk was made ready for the restore.

Have you tried to boot Windows 10 on the Dell into Windows Safe Mode?

I installed my system backup again and the computer booted. I do not have to use Universal restore how is this possible?

Vincent, Universal Restore tends to be needed mainly with older versions of Windows OS prior to Windows 10.  The latter is a whole lot better at handling hardware differences and will find new device drivers itself in many cases.

Vincent, you may now need to check that you have the best device drivers installed for your devices rather than generic drivers that Windows has found and installed.
