Backup via WiFi freezing - No problem via LAN

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have a strange problem with a simple volume backup of only C: of around 120 GB:

When I run that backup via LAN connection to my NAS or to an USB stick there is absolutely no problem.

When I run the same backup via WiFi to my NAS, the backup begins and is writing around 5 - 15 GB data with good speed to my NAS, but then always stops suddenly and won't do anything anymore (waited already 12 hours). The CPU usage of Acronis True Image is then 0 or 0,5 % and nothing happens anymore. Also when I click on stop backup, it won't finish stopping it. I have to restart my PC then.

My WiFi connection and my network can't be the problem. Cause I also copied manually the backup files from my laptop to the NAS and vice versa via WiFi without any problems and very high speeds (up to 500 Mbit/s).

Does anyone have an idea, why True Image could have a problem with backup via WiFi?

Jürgen, welcome to these User Forums.

I am doing regular daily backups via WiFi from my laptop to the Acronis Cloud, plus regular backups to my NAS also via WiFi and have not seen any problems as you have described.

I would recommend checking the power settings for your WiFi adapter to see if these are involved in this issue, plus if you are using a USB connected WiFi adapter check for USB selective suspend being active.

Like Steve I make regular backups of my Dell Notebook by WIFI (both to my NAS and Acronis Cloud) and have never had this happen to me. I would follow Steve's advice and check the WIFI settings.
