Bitlocker issue

Thread needs solution

Trying to replace the HDD in a relatively new (still under warranty) Dell Vostro 15 notebook.

The BIOS had TPM 2.0 switched ON and ENABLED, and in Windows the disk had Bitlocker OFF but the boot DVD version of ATI (OEM) wouldn't clone the disk because "Bitlocker is on - switch it off first". Since there was nowhere to switch it off in Windows, only "on", I went into BIOS and DISABLED and SWITCHED OFF the TPM. Still got the same error.

I read on a forum post that I should use the installed Windows version of ATI so I tried that. Nope, this time the error said I had to use a bootable ATI disk to clone.

So, that's disappointing. Anyone have any suggestions?

Chris, welcome to these public User Forums.

I would suspect that Bitlocker may be in pending activation status on your computer, which is neither on or off, but is considered to be on by ATI.

Open an Administrator command prompt window and type in the following command:

manage-bde c: -off

If necessary change c: to any other drives that may also be in this state.
