Missing .DLL and other files after using Recovery
Hi,
I continually failed to update Win10 1903 on my HP 470 G3 Laptop and was advised to do a CLEAN install of Win10 PRO (x64). This would indicate that I would have to Backup all my Programs & Data as they would get lost.
Before the Clean install I used Acronis 2019 to make a Clone of the Old original drive which I still have.
Then, on a separate drive, I did a File&Folder Backup of all 3 partitions of the Old HP drive ( excluding all WINDOWS folders on the C: partition as it will be re-installed )
After the Clean re-install of Win10 I downloaded & re-installed Acronis 2019 onto the clean disk and did a Clone on the new fresh Win10 disk onto a 3rd spare drive.
Next I wanted to recover all Programs & Data backed up from the Old drive and ran Recovery via Backup/Recovery ( recovering from the Old C: partition ) selecting particular folders to recover.
When Recovery completed, many programs won't load indicating missing .DLLs & other issues.
Wouldn't File & Folder Backup copy everything on the Old drive or should I use another method to transfer all Programs onto the new drive bearing in mind that I still have a Clone of the Old original drive and could therefore re-do a backup via a new method if required.
What is the best way to transfer all Programs & Data onto the New drive, and
Do I need to recover the two other HP partitions ( Tools & Recovery ) or will they automatically get created ?
Thanks,
Adrian ( Johannesburg )
