Open .tib files with Acronis true image 2019 trial?

Thread needs solution

Hello, so a few years ago my laptop HDD was dying and had bunch of bad sectors and at one point couldnt even boot into windows so i took it to my friend who made sector by sector backup into .tib file using acronis true image

Now i found out that moron has used old (i think 2016 or even 2015) PIRATED copy of acronis true image to do it and only now i have also found out that i cannot even open tib files without acronis (i didnt need my old files until now so onyl now i found out that i need acronis to open tib files....)

Now my question is, can i use trial of acronis true image 2019 to open my tib file without it being damaged or modified even tough it was made using pirated version thanks to my idiot friend

If i open it with trial of 2019 version cant it detect that it was created with old pirated version and destroy my TIB backup file or modify it in some way

Also what happens when trial expiers, does my old TIB backup remain untouched even if trial is expierd or does it destroy it after trial expiers

Also what would be the best way to convert from TIB to some other format for safekeeping of my HDD image and what would be best format

Thanks in advance

Bojan, welcome to these public User Forums.

The trial version of Acronis True Image 2019 should be able to open your backup .tib files created with an older version of the product.

The only real question about using a pirated version of any software, including Acronis, is whether it contains any 'free extras' such as malware applications etc!

You cannot convert .tib files to any other archive format, there are no known tools for doing this. The only method that can be used would be to recover the whole backup image to a replacement disk drive, then make a backup of that drive using a different application.

I have never heard of Acronis taking any action against backup .tib files created with a pirated copy of the product, so would not expect using the trial version of software to attempt to destroy the data involved etc.

See KB 2768: Trial version limitations of Acronis products

To add to Steve's notes, with the trial rescue media, you should still be able to restore an existing backup, as long as the backup is functional and not corrupted.

Install the trial, create rescue media and restore with rescue media down the road if need be. Just restore to a new location (if using a file/folder recovery) and then copy and paste in Windows with the recovered data (assuming it is data being restored and not system files).
