Restore backup from NAS to new SSD
Acronis has lost nearly all of its appeal to me since I first started using it in the early 2000's. I have True Image 2018 build 15470 installed on a backup hard drive in my laptop. My regular hard drive WAS a Samsung SSD, which now functions only as a paper weight - totally dead. I have recent backups on a NAS on my home network (Synology DS118). There is no way that I have found to restore my backup to a newly purchased SSD. I have tried creating a new rescue disk (USB drive) but it will not see anything on my network, including my NAS. I have tried adding network drivers to the build of the rescue but it still does not see anything on my network when I boot into that environment.
I have also tried to find a way to attach my new drive via USB-SATA converter cable. My laptop sees the new drive just fine but Acronis does not provide a way to restore my backup to the new drive.
PLEASE HELP!

Kelly, in addition to Ian's comments, you will need a wired connection from your laptop to your network where the Synology NAS is. There is minimal, if any, wireless support in the standard Acronis Rescue Media.
If your Synology NAS supports attaching via a USB cable, that is also an alternative method you could try.
With a new drive, you may need to use the option in ATI to 'Add new disk' which is found in the Tools section of the application.

When booted to the Rescue Media do the following:
- Select Recovery from the left menu.
- Next click on Browse for backup.
- In the new window that appears in the left pane click on Network then click on the arrow on the left and wait for the folder Entire Network to appear.
- Moving to the right pane click on Entire Network to select it then click inside the search bar entitled File name at the bottom of the screen to place your cursor there.
- Now enter the path to your backup file. Example: \\DS118\MyBackups\filename (DS118 can be replaced by IP Address)
- As you type the third \ mark you should see the available folders on your NAS. It is then possible to click through navigate to your desired backup files.
- If you use a password protected share on the NAS to host your backup files then after the third \ begin typing your Username. A credentials box should appear. Enter your credentials and click Test connection. Once connection is established then all paths to backup folders\files on the NAS will appear below the search bar where you are typing the path and can be click selected.
- If you see Command prompt windows appear asking for credentials, ignore them as they are the result of a problem in WinPE/RE with some ADK builds. Simply dismiss them by closing each prompt window.

I am having the same issue as Kelly. I will type in the IP address to the NAS with \Folder of all the backups, this is where the restore process ends. I do not receive a prompt for credentials as I did in the past, the OK button does not show active either. Therefore, my only option is to cancel the restore process and unable to proceed. This worked when we first moved to Windows 10 several months ago. Now it does not work. I am at a loss.
Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! thank you for your posting! Are you using a bootable media here? Have you tried creating a different type of media and test recovery?

So... I recognize that this is a 4 year old thread at this point, but it's what came up in Google when I had the same issue -- bootable media cannot find my NAS. Under "entire network," nothing appeared. I typed in \\IP ADDRESS\ and the "OK" button remained grayed out.
I've been going back and forth with Acronis support for months on this issue now. I just realized that, if after typing the IP address, I hit "enter" on my keyboard in spite of OK being grayed out... the NAS shares are located. Note, the slashes before the IP and the slash after are not optional. Hope this helps someone!
