Unable to Uninstall Acronis True Image 2013

Thread needs solution

I am unable to install ATI2019 because I am not able to uninstall ATI2013. My PC runs Windows 10 but when I run the Add / Remove program routine, it does not display Acronis at all, even though Acronis appears in the Start Menu.

Does anyone have an idea why Windows can not find it?

Cheers, Murray

Not sure. However there is a cleanup utility. Make sure to right click and "run as administrator" , even if logged in with an admin account. Then reboot before attempting to install a newer version.

Bobbo, thanks for the reply and the link. The standard 1st option: Uninstall > Acronis does not appear. It is the only app on my system that does not show up on the option list. I followed your link to 40366 and I will try to execute the options there to remove TI2013. However I am very surprised and disappointed that the Uninstallation process is so complicated and full of potential "might not work" and possible side effect scenarios. It is now 2019 and I do not see why the removal of the old product is so complicated and hazardous.

Yeah, it's usually not needed, but have seen install and uninstall issues in the forums.

I'd run it anyway. I believe you still can? And if you're not against it, i'd reboot and hit it with CCleaner (free) and reboot one more time for good measure.

I have a feeling it's a compatibility issue with 2013 and current Win10; something must still be in the registry. Also, check computer management and services and see if any Acronis services stand out and / or might be active. If so, stop and set to disabled

Also, I usually don't upgrade from within Acronis, but grab the full installers from my account downloads.

And, after all this, empty %temp% as there have been a few forum posts where that has helped when trying to upgrade. Perhaps a bad download (missed checksum). And to be sure, you're not using a ram cache for temp or anything like that are you?

Bobbo, thanks.

Running the 2019 Installer did the trick as it refused to install itself while ATI2013 was present and I gave it the ok to remove it. I did a restart then ran the 2019 installer which works fine and there is no sign of anything left of 2013.

Excellent!  Glad to hear it!!
