What happens when the ATI dayabase no longer matches the external world?

Thread needs solution

I just did a system restore from a backup taken last Monday and that restore included the ATI database.   One of my backup tasks run daily so there are 4 backups that the ATI database does not know about.  It uses the incremental scheme and the last full backup was yesterday.  ATI seems to know that the last backup was this morning but that (obviously) does not show in the backup activity.  The ATI GUI shows an "i" for the backup status.  Does that mean I just need to run a Validate or is there something else I need to do?

Patrick, this is one of the downsides to any recovery action that includes the C:\Program Data\Acronis folders, as the information held in the database files is reverted to the state that was correct when the backup image was created, which is often different to the state it held before the restore was performed.

The net result is that you may have backup files in your destination location with names that ATI will now discover are duplicates of files that it would be creating, so will use names ending in v1-2 for the new files.

The only suggestion I can offer here is to consider making a copy of the C:\Program Data\Acronis folders before doing any such recovery, then copying this back after the recovery before ATI is launched (after after stopping AAP and all other Acronis services / processes).

The alternative approach would be to clone the settings for all tasks that have changed / been run since the restored backup was created, then work from the cloned tasks going forward.

Added a reference to this thread to the existing change request TI-99257 (Update database and list of backups after each system restore). Currently everything is as Steve explained in his comment
