Acronis Retention only one Fullbackup

Thread solved

Good day

Is it possible to create a rule within Acronis that allows the following retention:

Day 1: Fulldump
Day 2-6: Incremental/Differential

Day 7: New fulldump and keep versions 2-6 (Incremental/Differential)?

The goal is to always have 7 days available and never have more than 1 fulldump occupying the space. Whether incremental or differential is subordinate, the important thing would be the ability to restore the state daily for 7 days and never have more than one fulldump.

With the known cleanup options you can keep only version chains and when 7 days are reached, a new Fullbackup is created but not all changes of the last 7 days contains (but only current state of the full backup). The incremental/differential are then deleted and are not present in the new full as "daily restore points". We would like to have the Option to alway go back 7 days.

Is there any trick to realize this?

Kind regards

Matt

Matt, since day 2-6 are incremental/differential, they are increments or difference from the Day 1 full. Deleting the full backup would therefore render those on days 2-6 meaningless.

I don't see how you can do what you want with only one full backup since once you create the new backup you want to remove any prior full backup. And once you remove a full backup, that invalidates any backups based on that full one.

Hello

Thank you very much for the nice feedback, unfortunately I already suspected this. It would have been ideal if the new fullbackup would have included the old dif/inc in itself and so we would have kept the 7 versions - and with this "merged" FUllbackup a new week would have started - with 7 new div/inc backups starting from the merged fullbackup.

But so I know that there is no other option and the 2 fullbackups fit so.

The thread can be considered as done, thank you very much.

Best regards
