Back Up Now Question

Thread solved

Acronis noob here.

My backup job is full then 6 incrementals then full again.

Last night my incremental failed because the NAS was supposedly not available. I was actually browsing it on another computer at the time the incremental kicked off.

Anyway, the incremental failed and I was curious if I click "Back up now", will it try to run an incremental or a full?  It is due for an incremental.

Thanks for any advice on this.

Paul, welcome to these public User Forums.

Clicking on 'Back up now' will perform whatever the next operation is for your backup scheme, so if you have created 6 incrementals it will create a new full, otherwise a further incremental.

Thanks, Steve. I was hoping that it would just run whatever was the next job in the line up.

Now a follow up question:  Since one of my incrementals failed, will my full now run a day behind, or does a failed job still count as a job that's been run? This could be a problem for me because now the full runs on Sunday and I hope to continue to do that.

I could theoretically run an incremental manually in order to "catch up".

Is there possibly a way to view the scheduled jobs before they happen?

Sorry to bombard you with questions. I used Backup Exec for many years and got a bit spoiled.

I'll quit now...:)

Paul, if you miss an incremental, then yes, the scheme will be pushed back a day due to this unless you do a manual backup to cover for the missed one.

I wish that Acronis would have a more flexible scheduling scheme to all users to configure an exact day when a full backup should be made as the current scheme doesn't handle these scenarios very well!

Look at the Activity page for your backup task which will then show you what backups have been performed and on what date / what type.  This should help you to determine what the next backup should be, i.e. a further incremental or a new full, based on your scheme.

Thanks for the help, Steve.

I was afraid that the scheduling part would be lame.

I can see from the number of posts that you are a true expert with ATI. We're lucky to have you.
