Backing up the tibx files "backup of the backups"

Thread needs solution

15.5.2021

Hallo,

I have the following :

1) a differential backup of the D:

2) a FULL ENTIRE backup that replaces the previous backup

3) a full backup for the C:.

1) ands 3) are perfomed daily . 2) One a week and are currented backed up to an USB HDD.

But I also want to "backup the backup".

For 1) and 3)  Can one simply copy the first backup und then last tibx?

2)  this also generates two files and can one simple copy to the 2nd USB HDD - line 1) and 2) ??

PERHAPS with a rename???

I wish to do this once a week, in case the USD HDD drive is defect. Uploading to cloud is expensive and

takes too much time since uploads are slower than download.

I am not keen on TI creating two files for a FULL backup - the first file seems to be used as a form of index, but this technique could cause problem if the first is defect.

Does anyone have any tips??  Many thanks in advance!

Bonzadog, welcome to these public User Forums.

All Acronis .tib / .tibx files are excluded from backups by default.

Moving or copying .tibx files, including renaming them is going to cause other issues and could render them deemed to be corrupt, especially if any files are missing as there are new dependencies between these files.

If you really want extra protection against your main USB HDD becoming defective, then invest in another backup drive then set up separate backup tasks for your C: and D: drives to that new drive then run these on a different schedule to the first ones.
