Acronis article KB15725 may address your problem.
https://kb.acronis.com/content/15725
It suggests you download and run the Acronis VSS Doctor tool. That would be a good first step.

Looks like error points to drives J and K, but system only has C & D. I have no usb drives connected.

The report shows that you do have J: & K: drives that are mounted to those drive letters at the time the report was created.
Name: J:\ DeviceId: \\?\Volume{d13d7269-b701-44f7-98c7-820427db051e}\ Size: 10 GB Available: 297 MB Minimum: 320 MB IsOk: False Description: Free space is below required minimum IsMounted: True Name: K:\ DeviceId: \\?\Volume{e59f7b74-789d-49b2-8325-e00fed0408bf}\ Size: 518 MB Available: 84 MB Minimum: 320 MB IsOk: False Description: Free space is below required minimum IsMounted: True
These may be an old PC Recovery (to how shipped) 10GB partition, and possibly an old Windows Recovery partition 518MB if you have upgraded from an earlier version of Windows on this PC?
Check in Windows Disk Management to see what that shows for partitions with the above sizes?
If haven't already done so, try doing a full Windows Restart or a full Shutdown then restart as this can often clear some of these snapshot issues.

So far today the backup is running as it should. Will update once completed.
As for J & K they were never visible until recently in which maybe related to win10 updates? J: partition(10GB) files are dated back from 2012 and reference "DELL" and I think system was running Win8.x then. K: partition I get "access denied" when I try to look in folders.
My question... can I recover/combine J & K back into C:, if so how?
Or if the backup completes, can I use Acronis to restore system to eliminate J & K, if so how?
Or... can I delete all the data in J:, rename it and make use. BTW, I upgraded to SSD drives about 6 months ago

Larry, if your 10GB partition is an old Dell factory recovery partition and would put your PC back to Win 8, then you could delete the partition and recover the space by using any partition management software tools - download a copy of the free MiniTool Partition Wizard software which will let you do this easily.
Note: make a backup of any partitions being deleted first and test leaving the space as unallocated while you restart Windows to ensure there are no issues from doing this.
The same tool should also allow you to look at the contents of the other small partition and make a decision about that too.

Steve Smith, installed it last evening and this AM window popped up showing AVG was installed along with reporting a virus. did google and it's a fake but related to AVG. I'm thinking of going with Arconis Disk Doctor. I don't like addon's that don't give a notice or choice.

Larry, sorry that AVG looks to have got installed here - I don't recall MiniTool PW doing that when I have installed it on various computers recently, but I do take care to read the panels more carefully these days before clicking on next or accept etc, as a number of free products try to install various unwanted things. CCleaner have been trying to push Avast AV for a while since they were taken over by them methinks! Google Chrome pushed AVG for a while etc.
I have not come across any products where the user could not refuse the 'free extras' though some are more cunning than others, i.e. tick to accept or tick to reject being varied on different panels!
AOMEI and EASEUS both offer free partition manager software which I have used from time to time.
