Backup up a USB Flash Drive

Thread needs solution

Can True Image 2020 backup the contents of a USB flash drive? That is, using the USB device as the source of the backup, not the destination.

If so, could such a backup be triggered when the drive is inserted to the PC? I am concerned about the long term reliability of data stored on these devices, especially if that is the only copy.

John, it is possible to backup a USB flash drive - I just did it. However, you need to be careful that you do not inadvertently backup other disks - in my case when creating a disk and partitions backup it automatically selects the drive in the primary M.2 slot and the drive attached to SATA Port 0.

The configuration options include one that runs a backup task when a specified event occurs; there are several events including one that is "When an external device is connected". In the past I have only used the destination drive for the device being connected; I had assumed without thinking that the source drive was not an option.

I am testing it at the moment and will report back.

Did not work, but that may be because both the source and target drives were USB devices. Will try again tomorrow (it is getting late here in Melbourne Australia).

You can definitely create a backup just not sure if you can configure it to run whenever the source drive is attached.
