Build 22510 backups messed up

Thread needs solution

Hi to all, I am experiencing a very strange ATI behaviour after updating to build 22510: - backup options reset (ok already addressed in other posts) - impossible to modify backup settings (after 5 minutes or so all my changes are deleted and reset) - my online dashboard doesn't show all my backups (I have 2 machines, one has disappeared from the dashboard, however still available in the management console) Obviously I have restarted my PC (Win 10 64 bit) several times after the update. Is there a way to get my backup options working again ? Regards, Loulou

Loulou, this is all part of the same known backup settings issue.

See forum topic:  True Image 2020 -Backup option settings loss - with hundreds of users affected.

Stop the Acronis Managed Machine Mini Service and set the Start up type to Disabled to prevent the problem coming back until the issue from the Acronis Dashboard servers has been fixed by Acronis.

While the MMMS service is running, your backup settings will continue to be reset until Acronis fix the server issue.

I'm having problems with ATI 2020 Build 22510 also. It appears to be saving my option settings now, but I set my backups to incremental, with a full backup after every 6 incremental backups and instead of creating multiple files  with each incremental version (as it did before this newest version), I still have just the one backup file plus a metadata file. Is this a new file system they are rolling out (putting the full and incremental backups all into one file) or a bug?

Christopher, welcome to these public User Forums.

Unfortunately this is a known issue that can affect ATI 2020, 2019, 2018 users.

Please see KB 63613: Acronis True Image: local backups are not available for recovery if "metadata" file appears in the backup destination - which documents the issue.

But be aware that installing a new ATI build (or doing a Repair install, I assume) will re-enable MMS. I don't know how quickly MMS clobbers the settings; you may have time to stop the service after maintenance.

Patrick, just clicking on the Download option on the ATI Account page was enough for all my tasks on one computer to be reset because once the download started, I wasn't able to export the settings to a zip file first and because it was downloading from the internet, I couldn't really just kill the network connection!

Once ATI started installing the downloaded program, it immediately re-enabled the MMMS service and hey-presto! all settings gone!

So it would be possible then to allow the download of the installer file for a upgrade to complete which defaults to location C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\AcronisUpdates then, disable your network connection, run the installation, disable MMSM again after upgrade completes, then enable the network connection again.  Several steps but sounds workable.

Bob, if you export the settings to a zip file before upgrading, and stop/disable MMMS after the upgrade, then you can import the settings back if they get reset in the interim.

When I clicked on download, it automatically started unpacking the file as soon as it finished and closed the main ATI GUI.

Right however, I believe that after the installer downloads you are then given a prompt box to Install the upgrade, at least that has been my experience.

I wasn't given an option Bob.

Hmm, so after unpacking the installer the installer then runs automatically?  I do not believe that is by design.  In my case the download occurs then that download indeed unpacks and creates the .exe file which is written to the Temp location I specified.  After that, I see the usual prompt box with options Install and Release Notes.  When the Install option is chosen, I then get UAC confirmation prompt, then the installation begins.  Until that point nothing about the current install or setup has changed.

Strange indeed!
