Cannot Access "My Desktop" from Mounted 2014 Acronis Image

Thread solved

Hello Acronis Expert,

I can access my folders after Mounting my 2014 Image using Acronis 2020 but when I try to access my Desktop via:

F:\Users\Peter Jr

I receive the error messages attached (See attached uploaded screenshots).  I do have the latest version of Acronis 2020 installed.

Thank you for your assistance.

This is a Windows security / permissions issue due to the data being owned by a different user than the user who is trying to access it.  Users are unique to each Windows installation regardless of having the identical same user name.

To access the data for your 'Peter Jr' user from this backup image, you need to use the main ATI 2020 GUI and do this from the Recovery page, then in the Recovery options select not to recover the original permissions for the data when restoring it to a different location on your own computer.

Look for the backup in the ATI GUI, it should be found in the lower 'Other' section if you have already Mounted the image.  There is no need to 'Reconfigure' the backup, so just open the Recovery page.

See KB 63240: Acronis True Image 2020: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) - for more steps.

Thank you Steve for the explanation and recommendation.  Using the ATI GUI allowed me to recover the files I was looking for.

Cheers!
