Can't read slices: Error 0x40011: The specified file does not exist. Error 0xb042f: Destination is unavailable

Thread needs solution

I successfully used ATI 2019 on a previous Windows 10 PC build. I built a brand new Windows 10 machine and moved ATI over to it. Ever since, I have not had one successful backup; all conclude in the same fashion: /20/2019 10:24:05 AM: ----- 9/20/2019 10:24:05 AM: ATI Demon started. Version: 24.3.1.20770. 9/20/2019 10:24:05 AM: Backup reserve copy attributes: format tib; need_reserve_backup_copy false; 9/20/2019 10:24:05 AM: Operation WDC WD4003FZEX-00Z4SA0 01.01A01-1 started by schedule. 9/20/2019 10:24:38 AM: Backup reserve copy attributes: format tib; need_reserve_backup_copy false; 9/20/2019 10:24:38 AM: Operation: Backup 9/20/2019 10:24:38 AM: Priority changed to Low. 9/20/2019 10:24:39 AM: Can't read slices: Error 0x40011: The specified file does not exist. 9/20/2019 11:10:28 AM: Error 0xb042f: Destination is unavailable. 9/20/2019 11:10:28 AM: Error 0x13c0005: Operation has completed with errors. The backup drive IS available; I can see and access previous failed backups I can also watch the ATI progress meter with time remaining but it fails every time. I could really use some help. I have a paid-for piece of software that no longer functions. Thank you in advance.

Michael, welcome to these public User Forums.

Are you using ATI 2019 or 2020?  This forum is primarily focussed on ATI 2020, hence the ?

When you say you moved ATI to a new Windows 10 computer, was this just the application, or did you also move your backup tasks?

If you are seeing a problem with a backup task, have you tried reselecting the Destination for that task?

Please download the MVP Log Viewer tool (link in my signature below) and use this to capture a copy of the full log file data to post with this topic as needed.

Hard to say at this point.  I've only seen "slices" mentioned in a Backup KB:  1772: Acronis True Image Backup Units: Archive, Slice, Volume

I would do some general troubleshooting such as ensuring that the backup source/destination have not changed in the backup task (re-pick them again and immediately run the backup) as a test.  Things like windows 10 major updates or any change to a partition can change the information under the hood for the backup task - even if it looks the same in Windows, the UUID may be different.

Also check to make sure that things like power management (USB selective suspend, USB power save, hard drive spin down, etc) are not causing the disk(s) to drop during backups and things like that.

I would also run Acronis VSS doctor too - and check to see if it finds any errors (or not).

And last, check the OS helath by running SFC /Scannow.

Any of these or a combination of them could cause issues.  The log only shows

Can't read slices: Error 0x40011: The specified file does not exist. 9/20/2019 11:10:28 AM: Error 0xb042f: Destination is unavailable.

Why that may be, it's hard for us to help you determine that at this point.  I would definitely open a support case for this and supply a system report with it to help with the initial findings.
