Damaged partition while disc cloning

Thread needs solution

Hello.

The patient is ST1000LM024.

I started to clone a disk under Windows with Acronis True Image. The laptop turned off while cloning.

I decided to connect the source and target disk to a desktop computer and carry out the entire process from the Acronis bootable USB flash drive.

Unfortunately, I had a bad boot menu and the computer started booting from the disk. After dealing with this, there is a problem with the main C partition. It kind of got corrupted.

Inserting the drive into the laptop from which it was only starts the automatic repair, but to no avail. Is there any chance to repair the partition? How to fix it. The laptop is an HP 250 G4 with Windows 10 Home.

Hello Bill!

Welcome to the forum!

First, try running a chkdsk scan on the corrupted partition to see if it can fix any errors. You can do this by booting the laptop into the Windows Recovery Environment and selecting the "Command Prompt" option. Then, type "chkdsk C: /f" and hit enter. This will check and attempt to fix any errors on the C partition. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows…

If the chkdsk scan doesn't fix the issue, you may need to use a disk repair tool. If you're not comfortable using disk repair tools or if they don't work, you may need to reinstall Windows 10 on the drive.

Please, let us know if any of those solutions helped to solve the issue.

Thanks in advance!
