External USB drive used to store .tib and .tibx files formatted
I had an external USB drive that I used to store Acronis backup images that was accidently quick formatted. No new data has been written to the drive. I tried some of the utilities available to recover files but none of them seem to support .tib or .tibx files. Does anyone know of way to get the data back?

Steve Smith wrote:Alan, if the drive has been formatted, then you should just need to use a drive or partition recovery tool and let this recover all the drive content which includes any Acronis TIB & TIBX files.
If those Acronis files have been modified or corrupted by the drive format actions, then they will fail validation in the Acronis GUI and effectively be lost.
I tried two different recovery utilities and they both see other files located on the formatted drive but neither one lists and .tib or .tibx files. Can you recommend a recovery software that will recover those file types?

Alan, any recovery tools should recover all files of all types / extensions. Sorry I can't offer any specific recommendations as I have had very few occasions when I have needed to use these type of tools and the last time was many years ago!
MiniTool Partition Wizard free offers a choice of both Data and Partition recovery tools that may be of help, even if only showing that any TIB / TIBX files are still present.

If you search for data recovery tools you will find a number of reviews for both free and paid versions. Usually the free versions have a limit of the amount of data that can be recovered, which I am sure would be exceeded by the size of the .tib/.tibx files.
It might be worth grabbing some of the free ones to see what they say. I might be that they could at least tell you whether or not you could recover the files before paying for an unlimited version.
